Champions Cup Campaign leads to Murrayfield
As the longstanding tour specialists for Clermont Auvergne, we were again privileged to look after the Top 14 giants during their EPCR Champions Cup campaign this season culminating in an exciting weekend in Edinburgh. After a tremendous season which included pool fixtures away at Ulster and Exeter, our friends from France reached their third Champions cup final and took to the field against Saracens at Murrayfield stadium.
Clermont had also enjoyed some vital mid-season sunshine during a training camp in Spain at the excellent Oliva Nova Complex. We also organised their long weekend away to Barcelona back in the Autumn. This weekend Clermont take on RC Toulon in the Top 14 Final at the Stade de France as they aim to win their second “Bouclier” in Paris.
Of course Toulon RC is one of our very favourite rugby tour destinations. With fabulous opportunities for school groups and club teams alike, you can experience big match action at the Stade Mayol, professional coaching with a Toulon player, a behind the scenes stadium tour, friendly games or tournament entry from your hotel opposite the stadium and marina. This season we also looked after the players, management and sponsors of Sale Sharks as they put up a brilliant display in a tough pool match against Toulon in January. Ultimately the tournament was won by the consistently impressive Saracens whose Wembley Experience is always a great day out for schools and clubs. Matchday packages throughout the season where you can enjoy professional coaching and match tickets are also available at other British clubs including Cardiff Rugby, Bath and Gloucester Rugby providing the perfect day trip or long weekend tour here in the UK.
We’ll all be enjoying the British Lions tour to New Zealand this summer and looking out for the draws for the European Champions Cup and Challenge Cup competitions over the coming weeks. The new season will be with us again before we know it!
