A fabulous season ends & Barry joins the extended Absolute Ski team too!
It's been a wonderful ski season, which started back in early December and finished in mid-April. Thank you to everyone that travelled with us this season. We are looking forward to the next one in 2026-2027 already.
One of senior ski reps, Barry managed to work the first week out in Flachau before Christmas and the last week in Obertauern recently too - and celebrated by joining us to work in the office full-time when he arrived back from the Austrian slopes! Barry highlighted that just as some of the lifts were closing in the Ski Amade domain, the Austrians were already working on upgrading the lifts in readiness for next season. Barry said:
“The continued improvement in ski infrastructure in Austria is remarkable. With great accommodation, fabulous lifts connecting an awesome domain, excellent apres-ski options, and all at superb value for money, it’s no surprise that this continues to be our favourite school ski trip destination. What's more, a number of the hotels, ski school and equipment suppliers that we work with in Salzburgerland are offering us some fabulous discounts for off-peak travel. You're going to be getting a better product at better value for money if you travel in term time if you can."
Our hugely experienced ski manager, Martyn describes the area as his “home from home” and it’s easy to see why he rates it so highly, whilst our Ski Operations Manager, Ed, a BASI level 3 instructor himself, has travelled to the Ski Amade in Austria for more than 20 years and is now familiar with lots of our resorts in Italy too.
Luke and Louise both looked after our groups in Andorra this season, enjoying the fabulous Grandvalira domain from their hotel in Andorra La Vella. We now have an even greater experience in our team than ever before, with Lucy managing our reservations and operations and our Managing Director, Ashley, undertaking our hotel audits and managing our portfolio of destinations.
Barry brings customer service experience from the leisure industry to the team as an Account Manager primed to support our Group Leaders every step along the way, whilst Tim and Cristina continue to look after our trips in Italy too. We are lucky to have such a brilliant team on board, all dedicated to making your school ski trip experience, as seamless and enjoyable as possible.
One Group Leader told us that the life lessons learned by her pupils on the trip were simply invaluable. The experience that the girls had gained away from their comfort zone in a new environment outside of the classroom was profoundly enriching and rewarding. We agree! That’s what children gain. Life experience outside of the classroom! It's another reason why more and more schools are seeing the benefits to their pupils of travelling in term time. In our opinion, a ski trip isn't just a holiday. It's an educational life experience, that everyone should have the oportunity to enjoy.
