World Cup Winner meets Absolute Travel at SWCHS
Tottenham Hotspur legend and World Cup winner, Ossie Ardiles joined us at Saffron Walden County High School on Saturday 4th September to celebrate the opening of their outstanding new 3-G football field. A Tottenham Hotspur ambassador, Ossie won the World Cup in Argentina with the host nation in 1978 before moving to north London with his compatriot, Ricky Villa. They both went on to lift the FA Cup in 1981.
The facility, a collaboration between the school and Saffron Walden Town Community club, is the realisation of a decade of hard work, planning and fundraising.
As a sponsor of the new pitch, Absolute Travel and Tours has a longstanding history with the school and organises the ski trip, sports tours and other trips for the school.
Saffron Walden Community Club secretary, Matt Clare said:
“Absolute Travel and Tours was the first business to commit a sponsorship to the project and we are delighted that they are here today to celebrate the grand opening.”
Ashley Gowing, Managing Director of Absolute Travel and Tours said:
“This is an outstanding facility which will benefit the school, football club and community for many, many years to come. Ossie is a legend, and we were all delighted that he could join us to celebrate on the day.”
