Educational Visits & Activities

Hohensalzburg Fortress

Salzburg's iconic fortress dominates the city, high above the rooftops of the Old Town. The castle can be reached by a relatively steep walk from the Old Town, or a speedier ride up the funicular railway. Enjoy wonderful panoramic views over the city. Guided tours of the state rooms, armouries and museum are available.

Salt Mine and Giant Ice Cave

Enjoy a fascinating visit to the Salzwelten Salzburg salt mine and take a journey through the history of the raw material that made the city and gave it its name. The nearby Eisriesenwelt (World of the Ice Giants) is the largest natural ice cave system in the world, totalling over 40km, with huge breath-taking ice formations.

Mountain Activities

A range of supervised activities are available in the area and we can build a programme to suit your requirements including: high rope course, kayaking, archery, sailing and mountain biking. Tickets can be arranged to take the cable-car up the mountain, with an accompanied walk back down.

Mozart's Birthplace

Visit the birthplace of Salzburg's most famous son, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - a highlight of a visit to the city, not just for classical music enthusiasts. The museum takes you through some of the rooms where Mozart grew up, and also houses some historic instruments, including Mozart's own violin.

Hellbrunn Palace, Park & Fountains

On the outskirts of the city is the 17th century summer palace of the Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg, Markus Sittikus. The gardens and trick fountains are a big attraction in the summer, and is also the site of the gazebo used in the filming of The Sound of Music.

Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest

The mountaintop Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle’s Nest) in Berchtesgaden was built by the Nazis as a retreat for Hitler, and gifted to him on his 50th birthday in 1939. The building survived the war, and now houses a mountain restaurant with lovely panoramic view over the surrounding area.
